aurora room

Aurora Safari Camp opened in 2013 by the photographer Fredrik Broman and is the first Arctic Winter Glampsite in the world and one of it’s kind in northern Scandinavia. The camp is situated by the Råne River, in Swedish Lapland. There is no artificial light at all to be seen from the camp that disturbs your chances of seeing Aurora or Northern Light as it is also called. The clear skies, make stargazing here a pure magic and the Milkyway is just right above your head.

Ecorating: 4.0

This product meets our requirements for Ecorating, a product that is good for humans and the environment.

Aurora safari camp makes minimum impact to the environment around us, especially compared to standard hotels. The water consumed when dishwashing is filtered through a sandbed, the eco-toilet has a urine separation system, and the the rest of the waste is transported to a biogas facility in a nearby town that then provides the municipal-buses with fuel. The birch-firewood used to heat the tents is from local supplier. Birch wood is bio-fuel, and the regrowth of birch is quick. Transports to the camp is done by a modern snowmobile with a catalytic system and very low-consuming engine (about 8-10 l/100km).

The Camp is not connected to the electrical grid. There are solar cells and led lamps providing all the light needed.
